CPS Library Checkout Policy

Pre-K – First grade students may check out 2 books at a time. Second grade – Fifth grade students may check out 3 books at a time. Checkouts generally occur during classroom library time. Books are due back in one week. All students must bring their books back to the Library on library day, but students will have the option to renew a title if there is no other student waiting for the book.

The Library class schedule is as follows:

Monday: 4th grade, 5th grade

Tuesday: Kindergarten, 3rd grade

Thursday: Pre-K, 1st grade

Friday: 2nd grade

I will send weekly or bi-weekly reminders about overdue books. We do not charge fines for overdue or lost books, but once a student has six books overdue, please understand that checkouts may be halted until the books are returned.

Take and make kits are for fourth — fifth graders and are also due back in one week. If a student returns a take and make kit late, the student will be required to take a 2-week break, and then will be permitted to take out take and make kits again. If a student loses a take and make kit, or returns the kit without one or more items, that student will no longer be permitted to check out take and make kits.
